my child is autistic

but i've known that for a long time. to have it in writing, and official evaluation, diagnosis, label....it's almost freeing. to know your child is different but not understand why is constricting....frustrating, sometimes heartbreaking. we are so thankful. for the way this all came together for "such a time as this". for the quick appointment at the Baton Rouge Clinic. for the peace that we have. for House Bill 958 which became a LAW, just at one year ago...which means that Jordan's ABA treatment WILL BE covered by insurance. We know that the timing is the Lord, and He amazes me daily the way he has orchestrated this...just think, had we sought treatment a year ago, when we first began to notice signs and symptoms...the treatment would not have been covered. Now, one year later, a new law (advocated for by the Pediatric Neurologist we visited today) allows the most effective treatment known for Autism to be PAID FOR and covered by Insurance! Louisiana is one of only 8 states to provide this coverage. Had we lived in a different state it would not be covered. Just think about it.....we're here, in Louisiana for Asah to pastor Crossroads, yes...but we are also in one of only 8 states where ABA is covered! I have no doubt that this is NO accident. Grateful. About the only word I have these days to describe my God! He has been so merciful, and faithful to us throughout this process. And it's not over, it's only the beginning. Dr. Hollman said it is a battle to get insurance to cover ABA. Jordan will have challenges that "mainstream" children do not experience. We may be putting our house on the market to move 15 miles away to a better school system. There are mountains to climb. But I know the One who moves them.

Pray with us...Journey with us....We are so thankful for the prayers and support. Cannot say it enough...and, Jordan loved the Dr's office (for the most part). I must say it was one of the coolest offices we've ever been to. AND he got two suckers!

Tara - I can't imagine the emotions you are feeling today but I just want to let you know that Clay and I are praying for you and Asah. I really want to commend you for having the courage to start this journey. Early intervention can make such a huge difference in children with autism! By starting early you are really doing an amazing thing for Jordan. And what an amazing way to see how God works. We love you guys and will continue to pray for you.
