Memorial Day Weekend

We had a really good holiday weekend. Asah's family came and we had some good time together. Visited the zoo, ate at New Orleans Food and Spirits, breakfast in the quarter, went to church....it was good fun!
Monday we went to Chicot State Park (http://www.lastateparks.com/chicot/chicot.htm) for our church staff planning retreat. This is by far the largest state park I've ever been to. I got up at 5 am to come back to New Orleans to work. YUCK! It took like 30 minutes just to maneuver out of the park, and everything looks vastly different at that early in the morning. I can't believe I actually made my way out of there.
Anyway, hope everyone had a great memorial day.

Looking forward to the weekend...

Hey there. 2 posts in one week is pretty good, huh? We are both looking forward to this weekend b/c Asah's parents, sister and bro-in-law, and our nephew are coming for a visit. We plan on going to the zoo or aquarium and just spending time together. We're excited because they'll be our first visitors since we've been in New Orleans.
I haven't seen Asah much this week because he's been working really hard at both jobs and coming in late. It's good though because he's doing things he loves. I've upped my exercise time and have tried out some new recipes, so I'm having lots of fun.
That's about all.
We're going to try some po-boys from "The Bakery" for lunch today. I hear they're pretty incredible. I am also addicted to sno-balls, a seasonal phenomenon of crushed ice and juice. I go about 2x a week for one...but they're an affordable snack, about 50c for a small. I can live with that!
Till next time.

The long awaited Update!!!!!!

I am so sorry it's taken 49 years for me to update this thing. I appreciate all of you who asked why in the world I haven't!!!! I will try to do better. Let's see, the past few months have been a whirlwind of activity! I don't even know where to begin.
Asah successfully completed his 1st semester of full time seminary. We think he did very well, the grades are still coming in. I'm so proud of him....towards the end it got REALLY busy and hectic, but he hung in there and finished well.
This summer he's not in the classroom, but getting credit by working with Crossroads Church in Hammond. It's a church plant that's about 2 yrs old and his job is to initiate a youth ministry. He is enjoying it so far, but it is very challenging. Please pray for Asah as he begins something new in Hammond, LA. He is also still selling computers at CompUSA. Please pray that he'll continue to form relationships there and be able to make an impact.
As for me, I'm plugging away at work. Things have gone smoothly and I give praise to God for that. This summer, as activity in the centers heightens, I am expecting that the workload will pick up a bit. I'm heading to NAMB in a couple weeks to spend some time with my team there. I will also be going on a mission trip to Las Vegas in July. I'm looking forward to that a lot.
That's about all from New Orleans for now.....
New Orleans is a great place to visit in the summer (well, not really, it's hot and humid and kind of miserable)...but we'd love some visitors and have a great living room couch to crash on if anyone is interested! Free lodging...in New Orleans....can't beat that.
Love,
Asah and Tara
