Busy Weekend.

Hey there.
Sorry about the lack of posts. Asah and I have both been fairly busy. He has been working so much at Compusa, they scheduled him for 35 hours this week. He's talking with the manager today about cutting that back to 20 as originally discussed. He's here for school 1st, then work.
I've been busy with my work as well, and also busy making phone calls to the insurance agency. Still no word from them. It's quite a frustration. I placed 2 calls today w/ no response. I'm just thankful that we have Asah's truck for transportation.
We have decided that, when we buy, we will purchase the Chevy Equinox. We loved the price, space, and drive that the Equinox has to offer.
Church was really really good on Sunday. I began sitting in w/ 9-10th grade girls. We have really missed working with youth so it was good to be back with them Sunday. Asah is helping with High School guys.
Saturday while Asah worked I went to Mandeville (on the northshore) to visit with some friends of my dad. They had a cookout and it was REALLY yummy LA cookin. Brisket, gumbo, and jambalaya. SO good.
Well, that's about all for today.
Please pray for our insurance situation. We are really needing that to be resolved.
Love,
The Hudgins

A really good weekend....

Asah and I had a great weekend. We had dinner with Stephen and Jenny (two of my friends from college) on Friday night. Saturday we really wanted to play golf, so we found a course not far from the seminary and walked 9 holes. I did okay for my 2nd time ever playing. We actually met a man who walked with us who buys real estate in the Atlanta area. Hmmmmm. He is going to see what he can do for us, and will give us a call today. We are praying about this opportunity! Sunday we went to church then had James and Kristie over for a nice Sunday meal. They've been letting us use their car while we're one short...so, we wanted to thank them with dinner.
That's about it from down here. It's muggy and yucky outside today.
I'm working on troubleshooting some of my reports today at work, so it's kinda dull and boring....but once this gets done, my weekly reports will be a lot easier to run for the Centers.
Lots of love,
A+T

Asah speaks.....

Asah has the opportunity to speak tonight at the church where his friend Matthew Helton serves as youth minister. We are really excited about this opportunity as he has missed preaching and being around young people. Please pray for him tonight as he speaks!

Happy Valentines Day!

Asah and I had a Valentines weekend (why limit it to only one day?)....
We went to Miyako Japanese steakhouse on Saturday night. It was yummy! Then we bought new pillows at Bed Bath and Beyond. That was our gift to one another. Sounds a little strange, but we needed new pillows and we got some really nice ones. It works. Last night we saw the movie Hitch. It was soooooo funny! I recommend to anyone!
Today, Asah began training at CompUSA. He went in on Friday and they hired him on the spot. So, pending a drug test (ha ha), he's hired! It came at the perfect time, and I'm sure he'll do really well selling computers. My hope is that it's not too hard to just sell them-not to buy. We'll see!!!!!
That's about all the news from New Orleans.
Happy Valentines Day!

Bye, Bye Camry.

It's official. The Camry is totaled. It was my High School graduation present and I've enjoyed driving it the past 6 years and 178,000 miles.
Please pray for Asah and I as we deal with transportation issues. Before we purchase a vehicle, we need for our house to sell. Please pray for that too! I know that God will provide, and His timing is perfect. He knows our needs...and while our faith is stretched we trust in Him!

Mardi Gras is over!

For us, it's a relief that the party has left town. Yesterday everything we needed to access was closed. The bank, the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE, it was pretty crazy. I'm glad there will be some semblance of "normal" returning to the city. I say "normal" lightly because New Orleans is like a foreign country to me. Anyway, many have been asking the status of the poor Camry. The adjuster couldn't come out yesterday because, you guessed it, Mardi Gras. So hopefully they'll be here today. My leg is still really sore so I'm trying to stay off it as much as possible.
Asah continued his job hunt yesterday. This time at Subway. It's really close but in a nice area, and I have no qualms with him becoming a sandwich artist. We may even get a discount there, who knows? Anyway, at this point we're pretty much open to anything, because we haven't heard back from OfficeMax or the Seminary regarding his applications. Please pray that God opens a door for a job soon!

The Hazards of Drive-Thru Banking

Well, here's a pretty crazy story for you. I'm not even sure if it's believeable, and still cannot believe that it happened to me, but get this:
I'm sitting at the BankOne drive-thru on Friday afternoon, attempting to make a final deposit for the week for work. I'd been in line for 15-20 minutes (very busy bank). I pulled up and was the next customer in line when, OUT OF NOWHERE, a truck behind me lays on his gas and crashes into my car. It was pretty crazy. One minute I'm sitting there getting my paperwork together, the next minute my trunk is in my backseat, and the front end of my car didn't fare too well either. Once the truck hit me it sent me into the pole in front of the deposit machine, then into the back of the car in front of me. I managed to escape in very good condition considering the impact. My leg is still really sore (and looks horrible!) but xrays showed no broken bones, so that is a big praise, because Asah and I live on the third floor and a cast on the leg would've made for quite the climb!
The man that hit me was crazy. He climbed out of his window and passed out for about 10 minutes. When he came to he informed us he had no insurance. He claimed his foot was lodged on the gas pedal, and that was supposed to explain why he floored it and rammed the back of my car. I really think he was on drugs, or something. He provided two different addresses, and I cannot find either one on whitepages.com, leading me to believe they are false. His phone number also does not match his name.
Anyway, the insurance adjuster will be out today or tomorrow for an estimate, but odds are the camry is totaled. it looks like a sandwich. I can't believe I'm okay! It is definitely a blessing and something I am very thankful for.
Please pray for us as we make decisions, such as "how in the world are we gonna get a car" when we still have a house for sale in GA. We know that our God is sovereign, and that He will provide for and take care of us.
Happy to be here!

Tara

PS- I don't believe I'll ever do drive thru banking again.

Raindrops keep falling on our heads....

It has been raining constantly for the past two days! I feel like we're gonna float away......
Work has been good, consistenly busy. Asah has been studying hard and reading a lot. I'm looking forward to a chance for relaxing tonight. It's been awhile since we've had a night at home. Tomorrow night is the Student Wive's Valentine Banquet. I'm excited about getting dressed up and going, I think Asah is a little less than excited, but hopefully we'll have a good time. He had an interview yesterday with the ITC on Campus. I think that stands for Internet Technology something. Anyway, if he gets the job he'll be maintaining/updating various websites. I think it's something he would really enjoy. We'll see.....
Well, that's about it from here. Mardi Gras is supposed to really get cranked up this weekend, and the official celebration is Tuesday. They say not to attempt to go anywhere that day, because traffic is crazy. I think I'll be hanging out right here.
Have a great hump-day!
