dear teenage girl behind me in the drive through,

i dont really understand why you honked at me and were so rude today. there was a long line of cars ahead of us and just because i didn't move as soon as the one before me did doesnt mean we'd get our food any faster.
you see, i had a screaming baby in the backseat who's cutting his top two teeth. i had turned around to get him his paci while you were laying on the horn to try and get your french fries a few seconds faster. i also had a 3 year old yelling "Chicken Nuggggggeeeetttts!" from the backseat.
next time, just hold your horses and refrain from honking and give the person ahead of you the benefit of the doubt. i guarantee in 10 years or so you'll appreciate a little patience as you try and meet the needs of your children and get a bite to eat yourself.
have a nice day,
me

my baby is so sick

EDITED 04/20 am: it was TONSILITIS!!!! just a really bad case. now that the antibiotic is in his system he should feel better in a day or so. explains the not eating and fever for sure. the virus was just on top of that. poor little fella!

Jordan's not been Jordan in 4 days and it's killing me. In fact, the entire Hudgins family has been under the weather the past few days, but J definitely has the worst. I suspect the flu but i could be wrong. I've never, ever seen him act like this. Today he was actually laying in the recliner moaning. His fever has come and gone now for 4 days and he seems to be hurting. It all started Wednesday with vomitting and diarreah, but then that ended on Thursday and since then it's just been a lethargic, non eating, miserable Jordan. We want our J back soon!
I'm kicking myself for not taking him in sooner. This weekend has been looooong as we wait on the pedi to open up tomorrow morning. Say a little prayer for him and hopefully we'll find out tomorrow whats bugging our little man.

brothers on the run

asah and i thought it was super cute when Jordan started pulling Jax around in the wagon, so cute we just had to get a picture...but we couldnt find the camera quickly and both ran inside to try and find it fast. before we knew it Jordan was halfway down the road with his brother (oops). they were making a run for it.

one "bad" dude

this is the day jordan started feeling sick. he perked up when a friend of ours came over on a motorcycle. he loved getting on and off and asking can he "go for a ride"? we didnt let him, but he sure had fun playing the part.

look whos FINALLY un-swaddled

after almost 8 months he gave it up! we realized this when he began to flip to his tummy and yank his arms loose every time we put him down for a nap or at night. he's now a bonified tummy sleeper and did great without his swaddle last night. (well, "great" for jax is a bit different than for most babies his age, but i take what sleep i can get!!)
he still wakes once for a middle of the night meal...never fails. but considering that he's 24lbs maybe he truly needs the calories.
we'll get rid of the swaddle completely soon and trade it for a sleep sack. for now he does still like it wrapped around, creating a cozy little pouch to keep his legs and feet warm! this is during his nap today (1.5 hours and going strong! woo hoo!)

easter

our easter looked a bit different than most families i suppose. better get used to it as asah is in ministry and not looking to a career change anytime soon :)
the day started by him leaving the house at 5am(totally normal) for finishing touches on the sermon and preps at the church.
my day started whenever jax woke me up for his early morning meal. i showered and got the boys ready and then we were off. i ended up working in the nursery due to lack of volunteers and missed the service (that's ok too...just part of it!)
we came home and had a wonderful lunch together (ham and the fixins) and after the boys both took a long sunday nap we let them peek at their Easter baskets. they really racked up with goodies from Mommy and Daddy plus the 3 sets of grandparents. waaaaay too much sugar. jordan was in heaven!
it was a low key day, but a great time to remember Christ's sacrifice for us.
**i TOTALLY failed to snap a pic of both boys in their Easter outfits...but i'll dress them in them again and get one. they were both way too tired after church to cooperate!

crockpot mac n cheese

a friend asked for this recipe, so i figured i'd post it to share with everyone. we made it for one of the sides for our "Easter feast" and it was so yummy (and easy!!)

8 ounces elbow macaroni, cooked and drained
4 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
12 ounces evaporated milk
1 1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

Combine the macaroni, 3 cups of the cheese, evaporated milk, milk, eggs, salt and pepper. Place in a greased crockpot. Top with remaining cheese. Cover; cook on low for 4-5 hours.
Be sure not to overcook macaroni!!!

easter egg hunt

we had a great time at the 09' Crossroads Easter Egg Hunt. what a wonderful outreach to our Community. jordan was just not into it again this year. he isnt the kind to be "into" Christmas, Birthdays, or any Holiday for that matter quite yet. Most kids his age are...he's just a bit different. He had a good time though. And Jax has a great time wherever he goes. He enjoyed being with all the other babies. These pictures include all the Babies that were a part of the "Baby Boom" we had at church last year.

cock-a-doodle-annoying

having a neighborhood rooster was fun the first day or so. now it's time for mr. rooster to go back to the farm. the other day he stood in our driveway and cock a doodled for no less than 45 times at around six in the morning. of course our boys woke up after all that ruckus! when we were sitting outside a few days ago some college students were trying to chase him down. they were tired of him waking them at 5a.m. all their best efforts were fruitless though. hopefully someone can catch him soon...

can i just have a bit of peace and quiet around here?

we were getting jaxon up from a nap and i THOUGHT it would be a good photo op...but jordan was saying "cheese!" way too loudly for a baby that had just woken up. i still think these pictures are hilarious because of jaxon's expressions. he wanted a peaceful wakeup..instead he was met with a rambunctious brother.

and this one was just funny cause his little undies were showing from under his saggy pants. lots more room in there without a diaper!!

my toddler is now a little boy

and it seemingly happened overnight.....
he is now fully potty-trained. no accidents in over a week! he even wipes by himself (bonus!)
everything has become "me do it!". he pours his juice, helps dress himself, etc. i'm just amazed the quick turnaround from 2-3 years old. it really did happen in the blink of an eye.
he's growing sooooo fast.

shouldve used sunscreen.

so i have skin cancer on my back. i got some biopsies done last week on two spots...and one came back as basal cell carcinoma.
i will be having a little minor surgery to get it removed on the 30th.
this is likely from silly times spent in the tanning bed and out on the beach without sunscreen 10 years ago when i thought i was invincible!!!
anyway, just a great reminder to use sunscreen and go get checked if you have a suspicious mole or "spot". the area on my back didnt really look like a mole at all, just a red raised area that popped up 6-8 months ago and was itchy.
