Jordan

Okay, we have our name! Here’s the story behind it. This baby boy will be the only one to carry on the “Hudgins” name from Asah’s granddaddy’s line. (Asah’s dad was an only son, Asah is an only son)…..SO, we’re naming our son Jordan, meaning “descendant”. It all came together this morning and I’m glad to finally have a name that we both really love. The full name will be Jordan Asah Hudgins. So, that’s the story. We love Jordan already and cannot wait for his arrival in April!

the best cookie i ever had

asah made me a cookie the other day and i thought it was really sweet. he probably wouldn't want me to post it on here but i took a pic anyway because it was one of the best cookies i've ever had.

went back to the doc today, all is well other than the fact that i've GAINED 7 LBS this month. nah, she didn't say that was a bad thing and i'm blaming it on Thanksgiving. It's tough being pregnant during Thanksgiving and Christmas! At least I have an excuse! our little boy is measuring a little bigger than he should be...i guess he's growing along with mommy. he's at 11 oz. and should be around 8 or 9 oz. i guess we have us a football player on our hands.

well that's about it from tickfaw. looking forward to relaxing a little tonight and helping asah type papers. he dictates, i type. so far it's a great system and we're cranking them out. only a couple more weeks till freedom for him!

our baby update, just in time for thanksgiving

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces, and he measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the length of a small zucchini. His arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of his body now. His kidneys continue to make urine, and the hair on his scalp is sprouting. This is a crucial time for sensory development: Your baby's brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. If your baby is a girl, she has an astonishing six million eggs in her ovaries. They'll dwindle to fewer than two million by the time she's born.

hair this week! wonder what color? hoping for a redhead!!!!!

we'll know if we're having a son or daughter in just 5 days! i cannot believe i'm halfway through this pregnancy. time has flown by.

happy turkey day 2005!

we've had a good day so far. i am stuffed. i took the eating for 2 thing a little too far. the fried turkeys were a great success. asah did such a good job and as you can see he was very proud. we will be doing more fried turkey in the future I'm sure. more pics to come.
love to all and happy thanksgiving.
i'm thankful for all of you.

baby hudgins this week.....

Head to bottom, your baby is approximately 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a large sweet potato) and she weighs almost 7 ounces. She's busy flexing her arms and legs — movements that you'll likely start noticing more and more. Her blood vessels are visible through her thin skin and her ears are now in position and stand out from her head. Myelin (a protective covering) is beginning to form around her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after she's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and Fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If your baby is a boy, his genitals are noticeable, though he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

last night the baby kicked like CRAZY. around 10-12 times in the same spot. i may have a little karate star inside of me. asah has felt it once or twice. we're really loving this!

cock a doodle doo?

this morning i woke up to a rooster. i don't know if this is something new or i've just never heard it before. it seemed kinda far away but i definitley heard it, over and over again around 5:30. Nice. I'm wondering if this is going to be a regular occurence. Nothing against the fella, just that I enjoy my sleep when I actually get it.

Aside from that, this morning has started off well. We're up for a pretty crazy week, including our alpharetta trip, but i'm looking forward to getting away from S.E. Louisiana for a few days. A change of scenery is always a nice. Asah crossed some major hurdles and turned in a lot of work last night, I am really proud of the hours he's put in lately. He is a very hard worker!

well, probably won't be updating until later in the week, but just wanted to say hi to family and friends!

love,

a & t

ps-dreamed i had a girl last night. wonder if that means anything? of course, a week ago i dreamed we had a boy. an african american boy. i know that isn't possible, so it made the dream really weird. they brought the baby out and no one acted confused or anything. interesting.

cat nap

thought this was a good pic. josie and i took a little nap together earlier this week and asah caught us.

i have insomnia!

it's 4am and i'm awake. yuck. good thing its friday and i have the weekend to catch up on rest. i haven't updated in awhile so here goes.
we have been so busy. asah has tons of schoolwork. this is the most schoolwork i've ever seen him have the whole time we've been together. he's doing well, keeping his head above water, but it is stressful! i'm so ready for him to have a break. he deserves it.
i've been busy too. work picked up the pace, and i've also been working a couple nights a week at compass career college setting up their acctg system. that should be completed soon, but it has made for some packed weeks. this weekend i'm sure asah will continue with schoolwork. i'm planning on going to the Artisian Fair in Covington on Sat. A big crafts fair with lots of yummy food! looking forward to a funnel cake. :)

well, here is what our baby is up to this week:

Your baby weighs about 5 ounces now, and he's around 5 inches long — about the size of a large onion. He can move his joints, and his skeleton — until now rubbery cartilage — is starting to harden to bone. His sense of hearing is also developing. The umbilical cord, his lifeline to the placenta, is growing stronger and thicker.

kind of a short description this week, but he/she is growing like a weed!

we'll be in alpharetta next week/weekend. looking forward to a getaway and seeing everyone @ work.

have a good weekend...

crosskids

heres a pic of asah with the kids at our church and some of the staff. i thought it was a cute pic. this was last sunday, when we had over 100 in church!!!!
this sunday was special too, because my favorite preacher spoke. asah did a good job talking about jesus as our redeemer and we had the lord's supper. funny thing was, as we were preparing, we realized that the grape juice, was, er, fermented! yeah. so i had to make a last minute run to the quickie store to get more grape juice. it would've been very un baptist to serve the other stuff. :) it made for a good laugh.
have a good sunday,

home

some people have asked what our new little home looks like, so now that I've gotten things in their place (and cleaned) i figured i'd post some pics. the nursery (last 3 pics) is the only room that has yet to be completed :) I look forward to putting it together as well. the last one is of a framed piece that i've put together with all the ultrasound pics.
enjoy....

time for the baby update....

At 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, your baby is about the size of an avocado. In the next three weeks, she'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, though, doubling her weight and adding inches to her length. Her lower limbs are much more developed now. Her head is more erect than it has been, and her eyes have moved toward the front of her head. Your baby's ears are close to their final position, too. Some of her more advanced body systems are working, including her circulatory system and urinary tract. Her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, circulating her total blood volume through her body many times. (By the end of your pregnancy, this will increase to about 190 quarts.) The patterning of her scalp has begun, though her hair isn't recognizable yet. Although closed, her eyes are moving (slowly), and she's even started growing toenails.

toenails this week!

great doc's visit

just got back from the doctor and it was a good visit. got to hear the heartbeat again, i can't get enough of it! this time it was around 150 bpm. thats nice and strong. we scheduled our big ultrasound for nov 29!!! i am so excited. I've gained another 4 lbs this month, bringing it up to 7 total. i know its only the beginning!!
well, i need to get a few things done but just wanted to update everyone.
please pray for our pastor's little boy, Cade...he's in the hospital with a virus, ear infection, and possible pneumonia. We went to see him after my docs appt. We were supposed to be keeping him for the weekend while his parents went on vacation, but looks like their trip will be postponed. pray for peace and rest for all of them!
