schedules rock!
we've been "working a schedule" for the past two days and it has made a TON of difference. apparently babies thrive on schedules. mommy and daddy are doing better too.
the past two nights jordan only woke up at 2 and 6 and 12 and 4. nice. asah and i work in shifts, he takes 9pm-3am and i take 3am-9am. we each get our sleep (seperately) and then we get our jordan time. its worked out well so far but i do miss my hubby sometimes! i know that this is only temporary though, and jordan is doing so well!!!
i am getting a little cabin fever. i love lounging in my pj's but i'm feeling very recovered and ready to get out and about again. i know that it's best that we both stay put for a couple more weeks but it's getting kind of tough to do so! i'm ready to be able to get out for our daily walks...go to CHURCH....out to eat, etc. i think jordan would love it too!!! we may try to get out this weekend or something. we'll see.
motherhood is wonderful...and asah is enjoying being a daddy. he is a HUMONGOUS help when he gets home from work. I can't say enough about how much i appreciate his help!!
well, no new pics to post...but soon. daddy took tons yesterday during jordan's "awake time". stay tuned.

bye bye gram
gram leaves today (tara's mom)...she has been tons of help!
now it's time for asah and i to fly solo. we'll see how it goes...mimi comes in about 3 weeks in time for asah to GRADUATE!!! Glory Hallelujah, our 4.5 year seminary degree is close to completion! we are so happy.
jordan has had some good days...he is a bit gassy but even then he's a great baby.
oh, and the post from a couple of days ago saying i've lost 15 lbs....try 40 LBS. the scale i was using was on the carpet...and totally measured wrong. we noticed it and moved it to a hard surface...i could not believe my eyeballs! FORTY lbs in two weeks time. i feel like a brand new person. only 9 to go to pre-pregnancy weight...but i'm shooting for a few more than that. it is amazing the amount of swelling that happened during that last month or so. just thought i'd share!
well, there's the update on the hudgins.
thanks for all the comments!!! We feel so loved and know that there are so many fans of our brand new baby boy....thanks!

7 lbs TEN oz
Jordan has surpassed his birth weight...after dipping down to 6 lbs 14 oz he's back up to 7 lbs 10 oz...that's GREAT news and we are thrilled..considering the feeding troubles. I'm so proud of him!! Everything else went great too...so we go back again in 2 more weeks.
I got a scale today and was almost right...i've lost 15 lbs. still have a long way to go but being 15 lbs lighter feels great.
well, that's the weight update for the both of us :)
goodnight!!

can you get enough??? here's some of jordan right after bathtime and feelin good. another of him doing what he does best! sleeping!
we had a good day today...he's still a lazy little eater but we've been tracking his intake over the past 5 days or so and he's right there at average. we have a doc appt tomorrow and a list of a million questions. i'm ready to see if he's back at his birth weight!!! will update tomorrow. until then, enjoy these latest pics!!
update on me: i'm shrinking every day. my feet are "almost" normal and my hands and face are down. i haven't weighed yet but feel like i've lost 20 lbs of fluids. i would not be surprised!! the pre-eclampsia caused a whole lot of swelling. i feel better now than i have in months.
love to all fans of jordan!

week one reflections
never knew i could love someone so much.
never knew i could survive on such little sleep.
never knew i could divide my days so perfectly into little 2-2.5 hour increments of time.
never knew poop would be considered cute or that i'd be so happy to see it.
never knew i could stare at someone so long and never get bored.
never knew that my husband and i would become even closer as we work together as a team to get stuff done.
never knew that 3 am existed...but as i sit here now staring at Jordan sleeping soundly in his seat while i type i know it does, and have seen this hour so many times this week.
never knew what being a mommy felt like, but now i do and it's really really nice.
here are some recent pictures...sorry for the delay in posting these! i'll try to keep up, i know jordan has so many fans that are far away.

we have become picture freaks
but the subject is a very captivating one. enjoy!
asah and i are actually feeling quite rested thanks to "shifts". Jordan's gram is visiting and she'll either take the 10-4 shift or the early a.m. shift and that way we all get around 5 hours of sleep or so....except for me, because i'm pumping since Jordan continues to refuse to breastfeed!!! It's ok though, I don't mind one bit and it's actually going very smoothly. It's nice to be able to "see" how much he's getting each feeding. His jaundice is looking better each day.
One week ago today our lives changed forever. I thought I was going to my regularly scheduled doc appt not knowing I'd end up in Labor and Delivery. It's been the most challenging and rewarding week of my life!
We are so thankful for our little blessing.

A Little Hudgins Hollern'z!!!
Jordan has arrived!!!! Jordan was born into this world around 5:15 a.m. on April 6, 2006! He weighed 7 lbs, 4 oz. He has strawberry-blonde hair with a few curls in the back. He going to be such a cutie!!!! I'll have more details later and hopefully some pictures for you.
Lord, thank you for answering our prayers concerning the quick, safe delivery of Jordan Hudgins. Although Tara will be taking the magnesium for the next 24 hours, we pray that You will allow her to remember every moment with her husband and new baby boy. Bless that new family ten-fold!
Until next time, this is Hollie Carson coming to you live from Blogger Town....

Hudgins Hospital Highlights
Hey Hudgins fans!! This is Hollie, one of Tara's college roommates. Tara has delegated to me the task of providing Labor Updates. The doctors broke her water a few hours ago, so as of 8:50 on April 5th, Tara is now measuring 4 cm (almost 5 cm)!! Doctors have also added magnesium to her drip for stabilizing her blood pressure. Tara said, "The bad news is that I have to take this magnesium for 24 hours after Jordan's birth, and it will make me feel out of it and groggy." She wasn't too impressed with that option, but shortly after making that comment, she moved on to a brighter note. "The good news," Tara said, "is that I'm making progress, and I'll deliver him either tonight or tomorrow. I have to deliver him within 24 hours. Hopefully I'll deliver him tonight."
Usually there's only one contraction monitor in a standard delivery room, one that measures when the contractions come. However, Tara has been blessed with two monitors. This second monitor has been placed between Tara's uterus and Jordan's head. It's purpose is to measure how STRONG her contractions are.
To update on the father-to-be, like always, Asah is taking care of bizz-ness. After the doctors broke Tara's water, she never started to feel any contractions. Asah knew that wasn't normal, so he hunted the nurses down and told them to get to work (Hollie's version). Well, the nurses were still sitting on their hind-ends when Doc rolled into town. When she(the doc) found out that Tara had been some-what neglected, she laid the smack down on those nurses. (Let's hear it again for Asah!!) Tara is now well-taken care of and is in good hands.
"Father, tonight on April 5th, we praise You for being The Great Creator and a God who works miracles every day! What a miracle Jordan is to all of us! We ask that you would bless Asah and Tara with a quick delivery tonight. But most importantly, we ask that you keep Tara and Jordan safe in the process. Lastly, we pray that You would provide them with a soothing peace that would reside in their hearts and minds as they await Jordan's arrival over the next 24 hours. Bring glory to Yourself tonight Lord- Amen."

JORDAN'S COMING!!!!!
Hey friends and family of Asah and Tara Hudgins! This is Tara and Asah's friend, Liz. I'm way pumped to let you know that the doctors have induced Tara! So, we should get to meet baby Jordan sometime today, April 5, or tomorrow, April 6. Mom and Dad are a little nervous, but are doing just fine. I plan on heading up to the hospital this afternoon, so I'll be sure to keep you updated.
Hollie, great idea to get someone to post for Tara. I wish that there had been more time for her to enlist you for this duty...your blogs are ALWAYS awesome.
On a side note, what if Jordan was born at 1:23 p.m.? Then, his birth certificate would read 1:23 4/5/6. HA!
jordan-38 weeks
i'm posting this update a day or so early due to insomnia....figured i could go ahead and do this since i was up at TWO A.M. guess i'm really getting prepared for the sleepless nights!
enjoy the update.
i'll post again after today's doctor's appt. hoping for some progress!!
Your baby has really fattened up. He likely weighs between 6 and 7 1/2 pounds now (boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls), and he's probably between 19 and 20 inches long. He has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test with your pinky! His organs are fully developed and in place, but his lungs and brain — though developed enough for him to function now — will continue to mature right through childhood.
Side note: Last week, Jordan measured 7 lbs. He could be up to 8 already as I'm measuring a week ahead!! WOW.
Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If your baby is born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If he's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time he's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after he's born, but they won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)
side note: We are guessing jordan's eyes will be blue cause both of our eyes are blue and i remember from biology that blue is recessive, "bb" gene. So when you cross those you get a baby with blue eyes. Just a random fact for you. Funny what you remember from a 7th grade biology class.

a taste of dahlonega!!!!!!
oh my word i am so happy this morning. here's my story: i went to Burger King this a.m. for a biscuit and saw on their sign they had a new item..."Cheesy Tots". well, i love all things cheesy so i decided to try them.
much to my surprise, they taste EXACTLY like cheddar rounds from Robyns Nest in Dahlonega, my fave place to eat from college!
Now those of us scattered nationwide can enjoy the great taste of cheddar rounds from Robyns' nest. I have yet to find a chicken philly that compares, but that is beside the point. So cheddar rounds fans, pull up to your local BK and check out the cheesy tots.
Hope this makes someone else's day like it made mine!
EIGHTEEN DAYS and counting until Jordan's due date!!!
