new craving.

so lately i have really wanted ice cream...and there was none in our house....2 nights this weekend we drove to sonic for oreo blasts. they've become my new favorite thing. both times we went it was kind of late and we were already "dressed down" for the evening so we went in our pjs and no shoes. pretty funny. asah calls them our "redneck runs" for ice cream. i'm sure they'll be many more before jordan arrives. just thought i'd share.

this week we have some good stuff going on...today we're meeting with a financial planner guy (right up my alley)...i think he's in training of something so the session is free, which i like even better. wednesday is a doc's appt, and this weekend is a baby shower at the church! and my mom's coming in! so it's going to be a good week. also mardi gras "fat tuesday" is tomorrow and everything will be closed...should be a quiet day. it really is a holiday here. banks close, post office, everything. weird.

happy monday,

Mardi Gras Hammond Style

here's a couple shots we took at yesterdays parade (pre and post to show how many beads a pregnant woman can aquire!). We actually had 2 huge bags in addition to these but they were getting heavy so i took them off. We also got tons of candy, plastic cups, etc. Fun time! We went with Jason, a guy from our church and sat on the back of Asah's truck. I had the set-up with a chair and blanket...it was nice.
notice the swollen face! this is at the end of the day so i was nice and swollen looking.
have a great weekend!

jordan update-32 wks

This week is a milestone of sorts: Babies born after this time tend to do well even if they are premature. Nearly 10 percent of babies are born before week 37, when they officially come to term. At 32 weeks, all major organs are functioning except the lungs, which may need further time to develop. But your little one doesn't exactly look like a rosy cherub--he weighs about 4 pounds, and his thin, wrinkly skin hasn't filled out with the layers of fat that develop later.

i'm getting quite large! we'll post some new pics soon.

mardi gras parade tonight! hammond is only having one this year due to the hurricane...so we're going to watch and i'm excited!

please pray for our mission team that headed out to Boston this morning from our Church. they'll be there thru the 28th!

lots of love,

getting crowded...

i found these pics online. this is what jordan should be experiencing these days and at this stage in the game (32 weeks). looks so uncomfortable and crowded but i guess that's all he knows. i've stopped feeling the ferocious kicks, now he just squirms around in there. I don't know where the other 3-4 lbs of him are gonna go!

This week the mardi gras festivities are in full swing. i've had plenty of King Cake and the Hammond parade is Thursday night. We're gonna get me one of those fold up chairs so I can go watch comfortably. Maybe I'll get plenty of throws due to the big belly. I know they like babies, so if I have one in the oven maybe that will count!

We'll be sure to post pictures...

our little man this week....

this week, your baby measures about 16 inches long. He weighs a little over 4 pounds and is headed for a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and he's beginning to accumulate a layer of fat underneath his skin in preparation for life as a newborn. As a result, his arms, legs, and body are filling out.
For the next eight weeks, he'll gain weight faster than he increases in length, at the rate of about half a pound a week. The bigger he gets, the harder it will be to "see" him on ultrasound and get a good estimate of his size--the margin of error increases to 15 percent by the end of the third trimester. But he's definitely growing fast, and you'll notice that his kicks will start to feel more like squirming as he runs out of room to roam.

wow...major weight gain for Jordan over the next 8 weeks or so. Wonder about me???? yikes!
last night i was woken up several times by his squirming. he was killing my ribs!!!

here's a pic of josie and her new favorite spot. the crib has been up awhile but she just discovered this little perch and we're going to have to wean her from it soon. she thinks it's her little bed. now every single time i go by the nursery she's there. what a mess!

mmmmmm lunch

so asah and i have been experimenting with saving $dinero$ so that we'll know what it's like on our post-baby budget. that means less eating out, etc....so i've been bringing my lunches to the office. today i discovered boston market frozen dinners. amazingly really good! i had the fried chicken with potatoes and peas and carrots. i mean, it wasnt like i was eating a home cooked meal or anything but if i closed my eyes it was close.

not much else going on...just working away and jordan continues to kick away. he especially likes when i eat and usually gives a few kicks of appreciation. i do what i can :)

well, welcome to the newest bloggers, Liz and the Colson's. i check a list of blogs regularly and so i look forward to keepin up with you folks now.

happy valentines day!

i just got flowers at work from my sweetie...hand delivered! it was a surprise and it's amazing what flowers can do to brighten a day! 3 years ago today asah asked me to be mrs. hudgins! we've been through so much since then and it's great to see how God's plan is perfect.

we had a doc appt today and i got to hear jordans little heart thumping away. it never gets old. i'm measuring about a week ahead, and moved to appointments every 2 weeks. not much longer now!

well, that's about all....i need to get back to work but wanted to tell everyone happy valentines day! we plan on grilling hotdogs tonight (on a pretty tight budget in anticipation of jordan's arrival)...but we can still have a romantic hotdog and french fry dinner...it's what you make it!

love to all...

our sweet (but shy) little boy!

here he is!
who do you think he looks like?!?!?!?! most of the time (the entire 30 min session) he had his hands in front of his face. little stinker! anyway, we finally got some decent shots and found out some interesting information.
1) he's bald. no hair at all! we asked her to check because we knew if he was going to have it at birth he'd have it now, and he doesn't...so we've got a little baldy on our hands.
2) he's chunky. see pic with "fat roll" label. there are fat rolls on his neck and back. CUTE!
3) he's definitley a BOY. see pic, sorry....this probably goes beyond the PG rating i try to keep for this website.
4) we love him already. it was amazing to see him and i'm totally in love. asah said that he loves him more today than yesterday. i'm sure it will be that way for the rest of our lives! we wait with anticipation for little jordan asah to arrive.

picking his nose!!!! (one finger per nostril)

notice "fat roll" on the back of his neck!

well....it's definitely a boy!

baby hudgins this week.....

Your baby's a bit more than 15 1/2 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds. A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and fills out your uterus. His eyes open and close, he's able to distinguish between light and dark, and he can even follow a light source back and forth. Once he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have a visual acuity of only 20/400 — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from his face. ("Normal" vision in adults is 20/20.)

my little man is opening and closing his eyes!!!

we get to "see" him tomorrow morning!!

in 7-10 weeks....

our lives will change completely! i was just thinking that and figured i'd update the blog. as i type, the little one is pressed up against my ribs on the right side...making it hard to breathe. he loves to ball up and then stretch out and it feels really funny!
two short days till we get to see him in 4-D. so ready! i'll try to update the blog with pictures on friday as soon as I can. if it's possible maybe asah can try to post the video too. hmmmm....we'll see.
not much of a week, just work, etc. i find myself more and more tired every day. i try to make a point of having an afternoon nap most days. seems to help.
what's everyone doing for valentines day?? i think we'll lay low this year. we bought our gift for one another already....1000 count sheets! i've never seen any that soft. they were on a HUGE sale at tuesday morning, one of my fave stores. so i've enjoyed sleeping on them. makes it tough to get out of bed. v-day is the 3 year anniversary of our engagement! can't believe its been 3 years since asah asked me to marry him about 10 pm in a park in Valdosta, GA! look how far we've come!
well, it's almost naptime for me.
happy wednesday!

the weekly jordan update!

Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to accommodate his brain — which is busy developing billions of neurons. With this rapid growth, it's no surprise that your baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester. To keep yourself and him well nourished, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid, iron, and calcium. (About 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in your baby's skeleton — which is now hardening — every day.)

i cant believe he will grow about three times what he is right now. where will i put him?!?!?!?!

weird night....

have you ever had "one of those nights"? i was pooped and hoping to get tons of sleep....ha! i got up to use the restroom (#3/5 times last night) and josie was freaking out. she followed me into the bathroom and sat on my feet, then was creeping around really low to the ground like she was scared. i flipped on all the lights to see if someone was in our house or something. nothing. so i leave the bathroom light on and head back to bed...she is under my feet and meowing LOUDLY the entire time. i was trying to figure out what in the world was wrong with the cat. i really just wanted some sleep. 10 min later a huge storm begins. i guess animal instinct knows about storms long before we do. so i try to sleep with her burrowed underneath my armpit. meanwhile...asah wakes up from a deep sleep and socks me in the arm. i guess he was frustrated at all the movement, noise of the cat, etc. he felt really bad when he realized he had hit me in the arm. i was like "what did you do that for?!?!?!" he said, i was asleep i guess and then went back to sleep. so i'm laying there with a scared cat and thunder and lightening for about an hour. then just when things calmed down and i got tired i had to "go" again.
i'll try again for that good night's sleep tonight.
yeah.
